Sue Morgan broke her back during the rescue and is now on the road to recovery. As a result of that, and subsequent events, the editors were not able to travel. This supplement gives changes affecting the information held in the 9th Edition. This essential information relating to small craft has been collected from SA Notices to Mariners, information supplied by SA Lighthouse & Navigational Services and other information collected from regular correspondents around the coast of the Republic. During the life of this supplement, 2012, work will be carried out on lights at several fishing ports and havens when they will be inoperable. Navigate with care. Notice has been given that all lights are now operable. However, these lights may be extinguished temporarily. Please note a new edition of the SAN List of Lights superseding the 2008 edition is scheduled for 2012. Several charts have been updated to WGS 84 and a full list will appear in the forthcoming edition of SAN HO Charts & SAN HO Publications. Navigators are reminded to access the correct datum when using GPS or any electronic navigational aid, especially when using cancelled SAN charts. Mariners are further reminded of the numerous marine reserve areas along the South West, South and East Coasts, blocks for insertion on charts are available in SAN NTM July 2010 Tidal Information for the current 2 months can be accessed via the South African Hydrographic Office website: http://www.sanho.co.za. The following are changes affecting small craft. Navigators are reminded that they must use all means available to ensure safety of their craft. p. 12 and Lights Section South Head light, elevation from 34 to 35m p.15 Insert before 1. All vessels keep clear. See SAN 1014 and mark area 10m seaward from these berths. p. 36 No change to restrictions but new leading lights have been erected.
